All of the movement classes have the same foundation - lengthening the larger muscles to create flexibility, tone and ease of motion while activating the smaller muscles to ensure a balanced body. In her own body Josephine found the larger muscles were overwhelming her ease of movement and symmetry. When she focused on reducing the tension in the large muscle groups while working smaller muscles the approach gave her a toned, mobile and balanced body. This approach became the foundation of her method. She draws from her extensive training to create movement with elements from a number of disciplines for effective, fun, safe and results driven classes.
The method ensures the movement evolves to keep the body challenged. Classes are divided into four areas of focus - alignment, length, sculpt and sweat. The variety combines different styles of classes encouraging participants to begin where they need the most development and then challenge themselves to try different movement to ensure they don’t plateau and continue to get results.
After an injury set Josephine back in her day to day movement she was in search of a return to everyday mobility. When she discovered a program called Essentrics, it helped her get out of pain and regain strength. This first-hand experience of the transformative power of movement ignited a passion to learn about movement as medicine. Trained to teach the Essentrics technique by its creators Miranda and Sahra Esmond-White, she transitioned from a career in corporate sales to a full time trainer . As Josephine became more involved and experienced in the world of health and fitness, she continued to take a variety of movement training courses to deepen her knowledge, expand her skills, answer questions she was getting from students and develop her own method. She opened Framewrk Fitness Studio in Toronto in 2016 which was listed in Flare magazine as teaching one of Canada’s Best New Fitness Classes in 2018 and in Fashion magazine as one of Toronto’s best barre classes of 2019. She has now transitioned on line to Ruhe where a digital library and live virtual classes can reach people everywhere.
Since 2012 she has successfully completed her Essentrics Instructor Certification (Level 4), Barre Fitness Instructor Certification (IBBFFA), Holistic Nutritionist Certification (Alive Academy) and a Classical Pilates Certification with second generation Pilates instructor Maria Earle, who studied under Pilates elder Kathy Grant.
